lyrics

You fell in love again, I suppose everything goes it’s just a matter of when,
I fell in like with a girl, she didn’t have your smile but she had your smirk,
you shouldn’t show your hand in this game of cards, ‘cause winner takes all,
I was standing in your front yard as you went off to find it all,

alone under your bedsheet you became concerned with your mental health,
in a foreign country, trying to find yourself,
over time you know the feeling will go away,
you say you still love me but in a different way.

We talked and talked of everywhere we’d go and everything we’d do when we got out of this place,
but when we finally left it wasn’t with eachother I’m just looking for a line to trace,
we weren’t paying particularly close attention to where our lives were going,
a vague sense of suppressed ambition hit you hard and you got going,

you no longer have to look away, you just ignore the message beep,
you let the thoughts that used keep you awake, fade away into a peaceful sleep
you say I have your innocence, but I don’t feel any less guilty
you say in a sense, it worked out quite nicely,

I too went somewhere new, and here everything doesn’t remind me of you,
and I should probably start drinking and let everything fall into place,
get a job where I don’t make any decisions but still get very well paid,
you say you still love me but in a different way.

Time goes by, time goes away,
I guess time does fly, the world spins right into the next day
you know time, it takes the feeling away
life goes by, I suppose time will take the feeling away.

I’m in the same city, but I got a brand new apartment,
the lights look real pretty, when your head's got some altered components

people come and people go,
that’s probably already a song, I know,
but remember when I worked for minimum wage, and you came by when it got real slow
since then I’ve lived in a lot of places, but I haven’t quite had a home.
